About Us:

The primary missions of the LGPOA are to keep all islanders informed about issues affecting LGI and to seek solutions to any problems encountered by the LGI community. For example, the LGPOA has been instrumental in the development of the county's Community Plan for LGI, in creating the channels that provide access to LGI through the slow-speed manatee zone in the bay, and in the effort to rezone the island to permit only single family residential development.

The LGPOA currently is engaged with other organizations and the county in an effort to enhance the level of Fire and EMS service on LGI.  The LGPOA conducts a one-day island clean up effort in which many volunteers collect all man-made junk and litter and transport if off the island.  The LGPOA distributes its newsletter, the Coconut Telegraph, to all members approximately once a month and sends supplemental notices when necessary to advise its members of events of interest.
